Planning questions
How far ahead should I plan a Tanzania safari?
For June to October, the busiest months, start four to six months ahead — the best-placed camps fill first. For the rest of the year two to three months is usually enough. Apply for your visa at least a few weeks before you fly.
How many days do I need for a safari in Tanzania?
For a first safari, 5–7 days covers the classic northern parks — Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater — without rushing. With 7–10 days you can add more time in the Serengeti, a remote area, or a few days on Zanzibar.
Where does a Tanzania safari start?
Most northern safaris start in Arusha. Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK); we meet you on arrival. We recommend arriving a day early to rest before the first game drive.
