Know before you go
The Pearl of Africa
Uganda packs rainforest, savannah, crater lakes, mountains and the source of the Nile into a small, green country. It is one of the very few places on Earth where you can trek to see mountain gorillas, and its forests are home to chimpanzees and many other primates. On the savannah parks you will find lions, elephants, buffalo and huge numbers of birds.
Most trips start at Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria. Our Uganda safaris run from a 4-day gorilla trek in Bwindi to a 14-day journey through the whole country. See the parks on our Uganda destinations page.
Uganda: the questions travellers ask us
How many days do I need in Uganda?
Four days is enough for a gorilla trek from Entebbe. With 7–10 days you can add chimpanzees in Kibale, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls; two weeks lets you see the whole country.
Is Uganda good for gorilla trekking?
Yes. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga are home to a large share of the world's mountain gorillas. See gorilla trekking in Uganda.
Where do Uganda safaris start?
At Entebbe International Airport, about an hour from Kampala, the capital.
