Kenya Safari Cost

What a safari in Kenya costs, what our packages include, and how park fees and the season change the price.

Updated 27 October 2026 · by the Wild Pride Safaris team

What our Kenya packages include

Our Kenya safaris include transport in a safari vehicle, an English-speaking driver-guide, full-board accommodation, the game drives in the itinerary, park entry fees and local emergency evacuation cover. Each itinerary lists its exact inclusions.

Not included: drinks at the lodges, tips, laundry and optional activities such as a hot-air balloon flight or a cultural visit — plus international flights, your eTA and travel insurance.

Park fees: the Maasai Mara by season

Park and reserve fees are a large part of any Kenya safari, and they are always included in our quotes. In the Maasai Mara National Reserve, non-resident adults pay about US$100 per day from January to June and about US$200 per day from July to December — the migration months. Fees are set by the reserve's county authority and can change. Other parks are managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service, with their own fees.

What changes the price

  • Season: July to October is the most expensive time, especially in the Mara; April and May the cheapest.
  • Lodges and camps: from comfortable lodges to luxury tented camps in private conservancies.
  • Private or shared vehicle: a private safari costs more per person for small groups.
  • Road or air: flying from Nairobi to the Mara saves a long drive but adds the flight.
  • Length: more days cost more in total, but often less per day.

Extras to budget for

  • Kenya eTA — see the eTA guide
  • Travel insurance with medical evacuation cover
  • A balloon flight over the Maasai Mara
  • Tips for your driver-guide and lodge staff — see tipping on safari
  • Drinks, laundry and souvenirs
