Experience chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest and indulge in a full-day immersion at Rubalika Safari Lodge and Farm, where you’ll learn about vanilla farming, poultry farming, local brew-making, and traditional meal preparation. Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Entebbe International Airport. You will then be driven to your hotel for check-in and a brief orientation. The excitement of your Ugandan journey lies just ahead.

Experience the local atmosphere on a guided bicycle tour as you ride through villages and settlements, and chat with the locals, known for their open and friendly nature. You will pass through Entebbe town, the local market and along Lake Victoria. You will also visit botanical gardens to briefly immerse yourself into nature, extreme tranquillity with beautiful birdsongs. After that, you will head to Kigungu Catholic church, a historical site where the first catholic missionaries; Brother Amans and Father Mon Maple Lourdel landed to establish the Catholic Faith in Uganda.

Day 2: Lubiri Palace, the drive to Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will visit the Lubiri Palace, where you will get an opportunity to connect with the historical milestones that paved the way for Uganda’s independence. This will provide you with a deeper understanding of the nation’s cultural identity and resilience. After your visit, you will embark on a journey to Kibale National Park. This is not just a journey; it is an experience. Enjoy the drive from modernization to rural settings, stopping by roadside markets to check out some fresh produce and take some photos of the amazing scenic views of crater lakes against a backdrop of high peaks. Once you arrive, you will check into your lodge as you prepare for the epic encounters tomorrow.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland

Set your alarm early for an exhilarating day of chimpanzee trekking in the lush Kibale Forest. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll venture into the forest, listening to the calls of these magnificent primates as well as other primate species, forest animals and birds. When you encounter the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, you’ll be spellbound by their intelligence and lively antics.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a haven for birdwatching popular for being home to the great blue Turaco. Enjoy a peaceful nature walk exploring the local flora and Fauna.

Day 4: Community Immersion at Rubalika Safari Lodge and Farm

Today, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique full-day community immersion experience at the Rubalika Safari Lodge and Farm. The tranquil lodge is located amidst scenic beauty and offers a variety of exciting activities. You can take tours of the vanilla farm, participate in hands-on experiences like pollinating and planting vanilla, and even learn the art of crafting local brews. Your day will be filled with fascinating discoveries.

In addition, you will have the chance to join a local family, learn the intricate process of planting, harvesting, and preparing local meals and experience the heartwarming hospitality and traditional way of life.

These experiences will show you how the Safari Lodge has supported the local community through skills training, economic support, and culture preservation.

Amidst the picturesque surroundings, you’ll have the opportunity to truly unwind and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds you. This experience will give you an authentic insight into Ugandan Rural life.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today, you will begin your journey to the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This dense forest is the natural habitat of endangered mountain gorillas and has a diverse range of flora and fauna. Making it one of the most stunning places in Africa. On the way, you will pass through Ishasha- the Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, in search of tree-climbing Lions.

Next, you will visit a community uplift group in Ishasha called Agartha’s Taste of Uganda, a group that aims to conserve biodiversity by providing economic opportunities to local communities bordering the park.

During the visit, you will listen to the challenges these communities face in balancing agriculture with wildlife incursions. Agartha shares stories of her life as a mukiga woman as she demonstrates how to sort, pound, willow, and grind millet to make bushera millet porridge, a staple for the bakiga tribe. This tour offers a unique opportunity to learn about traditional practices while fostering a connection with the community’s daily life and conservation efforts.

You will then continue your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a journey that will take you through the terraced hills of the Kigezi highlands.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Today, the highlight of your journey has arrived! You are going on a gorilla trek through the dense Bwindi Forest. Accompanied by expert guides, you will venture into the heart of the forest to meet these gentle giants. Spending an hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat playing, grooming, feeding, and resting is an unforgettable experience that will touch your soul and leave an everlasting imprint on your heart.

After returning to the lodge for lunch, you will have the opportunity to engage with the indigenous Batwa community. This encounter offers insight into their traditional way of life, culture, and the vital role they play in the preservation of the forest. You can partake in their dances, hear their stories, and appreciate their unique connection to this remarkable ecosystem.

Day 7: Return to Entebbe

On this day, you will begin your journey to Entebbe, providing you with ample opportunities to capture the stunning beauty of Uganda’s landscapes. You will stop for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can learn about the fascinating Ankole Culture. You will also make a stop at the Equator crossing point in Kayabwe, where you can see the monuments that signify the geographical location of the Equator. You can even place one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere and take some photos to remember your visit. This location also has shops offering souvenirs and local crafts. Finally, you will arrive in Entebbe, where you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, bringing an end to your remarkable Ugandan adventure.
