Located in northern Kenya along the Ewaso Nyiro River, Samburu is 350 km from Nairobi. It is known for its semi-arid landscapes and unique wildlife.
Animals Found:
Samburu hosts the “Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx. Lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, and wild dogs are also present.
Best Time to Visit:
The best time is June to October and December to March, when animals gather along the river and the vegetation is sparse, making sightings easier.
Weather Conditions:
Samburu is hot and dry, with daytime temperatures between 28–35°C. Rainfall is low and comes mainly in April–May and November.
