Tsavo East National Park

Tsavo East is located in southeastern Kenya and forms part of the larger Tsavo Conservation Area. It is about 250 km from Nairobi and 140 km from Mombasa, making it ideal for both upcountry and coast-based safaris.

Animals Found:
Tsavo East is known for its “Red Elephants”, which get their color from the park’s red volcanic soil. Other wildlife includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species.

Best Time to Visit:
The best time is June to October and January to February, when the dry conditions make wildlife easier to spot around the Galana River and waterholes.

Weather Conditions:
This park is hot and semi-arid, with daytime temperatures often 28–35°C. Rainfall is minimal, but heavy rains can come in April–May, sometimes causing flooding along the river.
